Detail Design for Highway 69 four-laning will follow the planning process for a Group "B" project as outlined in the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (MTO, 2000).
In 2006, a Route Planning Study and Environmental Assessment Report (RPS) was completed which identified the recommended alignment for this section of future four-laning of Highway 69. This report documented the planning process and outlined additional work that must be completed during Detail Design to finalize the preferred design and develop mitigation measures.
It is currently anticipated that the Detail Design for this project will be implemented in two or three phases. Each phase will include a clearing contract and a main highway construction contract.
Public input is encouraged throughout Detail Design. Input will be facilitated through a series of Public Information Centres (PICs) that will provide an opportunity for members of the public to see design refinements, exchange information and ask questions of the Project Team. Notices for each PIC will be posted under the "Project Updates" on the Home page of this website as well as on the Upcoming Events section of this website. Notices will also be published in local newspapers and sent to persons on the project mailing list. If you wish to be added to our mailing list or submit comments or questions, please go to the Contact Us section of this website.
Nearing the completion of each of the main contracts, a Design and Construction Report (DCR) will be prepared and made available for a 30-day public review. Notices for the review period will be posted under the "Project Updates" on the Home page of this website, published in local newspapers and sent to individuals on our project mailing list.
